The Hockey Hall of Fame was founded in 1943 to honour the people who shaped the game and preserve its history. Its first permanent exhibition opened at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds in Toronto in 1961. In 1993, the Hall moved downtown to its current home at Brookfield Place, bringing the Stanley Cup, landmark artifacts and hockey history together under one roof.
